Ultimate Edition Screensavers !!!

Something new ! Ultimate Edition Screensavers !! Here we have not one but two screensavers ! Chrome and Gold Chrome Ultimate Edition logos Float like bubbles across the screen ! EZ to install !
Untar and open the Install instructions,Very EZ to follow !!

NOTE : May Be "Bugy" on Quad core, I am looking in to it ! Any and all suggestions welcome !

Hey JohnnyG, Well I seem to be doing something wrong every time (tried 5 times now) but this doesn't work for me. After I drag the Ultimate Edition gold desktop file to the Screensaver folder, that opens the screensaver folder pref.window, after a few min the Ultimate Edition gold screensaver shows up in the right side of the preview window. When I select that file I get the preview and it works fine. Then I go to system/pref/screensavers and the ss pref window opens but I never see the Ultimate Edition gold or chrome to select. I then restart the computer but still the Ultimate Edition SS never show up to click on. I am thinking, is there another step between your 4 and 5 steps?

Hmmm, You have put the logo in usr/share/pixmaps, and the ultimate .desktop in usr/share/applications/screensavers, via nautilus, and the preview or screensaver chooser window opens automaticly ? Hmmm, I will check something out and get back to ya !

Hello, I tried installing the SS on another computer worked fine the very first time!!! So I retried it on this Quad core machine again, it shows up on the preview window while under sudo nautilus/root, but close all those windows and select the SS and no go again.

HHmmm, I installed them on my 8.10 and 9.04 and no go !!! I am wondering if since they run on 2.5 fully updated ?????
But that just don't make no sense ! because this is the same script "floating" feet or ubuntu or ubuntustudio work on I have checked the script and all points, they are all the same !! I DON'T release something if it wont work !! and apparently one has slipped threw ! Thanks for the heads up ! I will delve into this further and see WUZZZUP WIDAT ! Thanks again a big help, we wouldn't want this to get out, Keep it hush hush!..........

For the no show screensavers,go to synaptic and search "xscreensaver" and install all xscreensaver data. you don't have to install the kscreensavers, unless you want them in your kde try that and see if you get them to respond !

Hey JohnnyG, Sorry, nope.........I installed all the xscreensaver files and restarted, this quad core unit. I even tried the process from the beginning, but now I have 5 copies of the Ultimate Edition gold in the SS pref! But I restarted and no go.

Check the permissions on both the .png and "desktop" file and compare them to the "others" permissions and set the same.

Hey JohnnyG, Well, I am not so sure if I will get your SS to run on this Quadcore unit.....I think I may have it too messed up to fix. I now have about 8 copies of your SS in the SS pref window, when logged in as root). I have both gnome SS and the Xss installed ( should I have both installed?) The gnome one seems to load by default (I have 2 SS listed in the dropdown Pref. menu) When I click on the one that is the Xss, it states that gnomeSS is loaded and needs to be disabled, which I believe is suppose to happen when I click on the Okay button. Though I can see no difference either way as your SS never show up in either SS pref window to select.

As simple as can be; your Ultimate Edition SS pref files show up in a SS pref window when I follow your directions and I now have 8 copies in that pref window to click on to see a preview. The preview functions perfectly showing your Ultimate Edition gold or chrome floating around. I then close that window and restart the computer, I select either one of the 2 installed SS showing up on the drop down System/pref/Screensaver (x2).

I followed your advice and changed the permissions to match the "other" which was read only, this changed nothing as far as getting the Ultimate Edition SS to function. How do I get rid of the extra copies of the Ultimate Edition SS pref??

Your program works so well on the Pent. 4 systems that have the Hyperthreading enabled, that why would there be a problem with 2 more cores?
