Transition to Gimp

Transition to Gimp

Postby cowboy » Thu Oct 18, 2007 11:40 am

Hello, thought I would open this thread up concerning Gimp. Some of us are still Win. users and have a hard time adjusting to the use of Gimp for there Graphics, myself included. Gimp is great, just have to adjust and learn the system. Beside the Gimp tutorials I have found some other sites of interest, feel free to add or comment to this thread.
Here is one... http://www.ghuj.com/
and another one... http://www.xach.com/gimp/gimp-tips.html
Any help or advice would be appreciated. :)

One of the hardest parts of the transition is getting used to the interface. For people who are used to Photoshop there is a version called Gimpshop that might be worth checking out http://plasticbugs.com/index.php?p=241 I am going to give it a go and I will let you know how I get on.

Downloaded and installed but..... When Gimp starts up I get the 'splash screen' saying its the plasticbugs version and goes into the normal Gimp interface. I think it is just a matter of changing some Gimp packages with the hacked ones. Was to tired last night to work it out and will have another play this morning.

Here is one more site which has a video showing how to use the clone in Gimp..http://jimmac.musichall.cz/gimp2demos.php You can eliminate a object or text in a image, have some work to do on some older wallpaper with the old logo, lol. Here is skips wallpaper before and after, using the clone button in Gimp.
