Change Cursor

Postby davedo » Sat Nov 15, 2008 2:55 pm

Using 2.0 as a VMware module under windows XP with VMware Tools installed it doesn't seem to take effect when I want to change to a simple, static cursor. Any suggestion as to how this can be done?

Hi Strider5236,

For the most part your suggestion worked just fine. However, when I open certain applications, such as Konqueror, the pointer reverts to the rotating version. Guess I'll have to detune my sensitivities ;-) Thanks for the help...Dave

Try changing it while in matacity and with no desktop effects enabled....

Hi Cowboy,

Now I'll truly reveal my newbie status by stating this question: what is matacity? Did you possibly mean metacity? I see that this is a window manager, but I don't know how to determine which window manager is active and how to switch back to it if I don't care for metacity (if indeed my guess is correct.) Thanks for your patience...Dave

Well the easy way to change your desktop manager is click applications..system tools..and there is compiz icon near the top...drag that to your top panel somewhere..click that..gives you a icon which when right click will give you a menu..you can also set up you compiz with setting manager...go down to "select window manager"..enable Metacity....to enable no desktop effects...right your desktop will give you another window "Appearance Preferences" top panel will have other option which you can adjust your themes ext....click visual effects and enable none...
All this comes in handy when you want to be sure Compiz is not enabled..for Compiz and some programs do not get along..like Videos..and Graphic programs....
Your cursor you have selected should stick and not change.... ;)

You are giving this guy hell because he is new to Linux, yet you are unable to complete a sentence.

If it is such a burden to spoon feed newbies, why do you bother reading the forums?

Your answers are gibberish at best, so why not just log off?

Forever?

No one would miss you.
