Adobe Flash update for Firefox

Hello all and thank you for your time. First I just want to thank all the folks that have put in so much time on this distro. I have tried many and this thing really rocks. I am still a total newb on Linux but have stumbled through almost all my problems and seem to have things working very well but for this one thing.

I have tried to install the newest version of Adobe flash player for firefox but I am lost. I have already purged and reinstalled flashplugin-installer and it seems that when I look into firefox "about:plugins" that I have shockwave flash player. But aparently that is not good enough for Pogo as they keep telling me it needs to be updated. Now it seems that the flashplugin-installer is only the installer and not the actuall flash itself and that is where I get lost. I have downloaded the latest version of Adobe Flash player and have it on my drive but I just don't know how to install it via the terminal. As I said I am still a total newb so I would really need a line by line example if you can.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Handy

Hello Handy, Welcome to the Ultimate Edition Forums. I will atempt to assist you with installing FlashPlayer.

First could you tell me if your installation of Ultimate Edition is 32bit or a 64bit?

Nest, can you please tell me the filename of file you downloaded from Adobe?

It would helpful to know some of your System's specifications, and an excellent place for that information is in a Signature that you can creat from the "User Control Panel" - you can find the link to the User Control Panel on any page of this forum, near the top of the page. You should includr the CPU specs, how much RAM your system has, the Manufacturer and Model of your Video card, and any otner information you may fell is relevant. You can see my signature (purely as an example) at the bottom of this reply message.

If you can please tell us which OS and details will help more. Go into user control panel and get things set so we can help better! I know on 13.10 flash-plugin is standard in the repos and should just be updating normally. Of course without your signature is a bit tough to know where you are at. If I am wrong will be easy for someone else to easily tell what is happening once we have more details!

Adobe Flash is stuck at 11.2 for us Linux users. You could try Chrome/Chromium with pepperflash which is developed by Google as a replacement for Flash. It is at version 12.0.0.41.

What gets me about this, is about 2 weeks ago I had the same exact problem!!! Now for the life of me, I can not remember what I did. Am not positive as it was something so simple! Not 100% sure but think it was something in the search bar I right clicked on and was able to enable it! I figured just in case you are using pipelight should also mention that sometimes the flash-plugin will crash on it, then you have to restart it. Have to issue this command in terminal: sudo pipelight-plugin --enable flash Now remember this is only if you are using the silverlight MS integration with your Firefox browser, if not try the other have mentioned. Am dragged as I should have documented exactly what happened and how I took care of it!!! I apologize for that as I usually do so it can help others not have the same hassles as I have gone through. If this does not work, let me know am sure will find out exactly what I did!!!

You know what, it is truly not a really big problem right now. I only have a problem on on Pogo and no other site including Youtube. So I will just let the older version ride for now. I was having some other problems that seemed to stem from letting it update so I wiped the drive and will start over in a bit. Thank you guys for all your help.
