ue2_6 growing...how to revearse?

in the years that i have used 2.6 it grown to over 11 gig. i deleated all my docs,pictures, infact everything in the home folder. ran bleachbit as root and user but 2_6 still occupies over 10.5 gig. i believe it was at 6 gig when installed.. can anyone help me get back there. i love the op. but need it smaller. can anyone help?

Running Ubuntu Linux, the Ubuntu 10.04 (lucid) release.

Reinstall....

Perhaps you have installed extra packages?

I think 2.6 is a bit bigger than 6 GB.

You can drop a gig from it pretty easy....

Go into usr/share/themes

delete every theme you don't use.

usr/share/backgrounds

Delete it all

usr/share/wallpapers

put the one you use here, get rid of the rest

usr/share/icons

This will clear you up pretty decently

Delete most of them, I think you might need the basic icon sets though, this might get tricky, still, if you remove a bunch of these, it will definitely get smaller.



Applications would be the next stop

This is also tricky, since there are dependencies that need to be met here and there, but basically, go through, find what you do not use, and get rid of them.


After that..you could make an iso of it, put it on USB, and save there.

That should bring you down to 0.
