Ultimate Edition Download Speeds

I'm wondering why every time i try to download the latest version of Ultimate Edition i get a maximum D/L speed of 250K. it takes forever to download. it seems that SourceForge doesn't have the bandwidth to allow for faster D/L. If I'm not mistaken this is 2013. Correct?

Right now 3.5 is downloading at 172K. /sigh...

You're very welcome.

I can't hate Sourceforge, there is so much cool stuff there...like Ultimate Edition. :D

Perhaps you are downloading a file that is not fully mirrored yet (there isn't one Sourceforge server, there are many).

Perhaps you are not downloading from the server that is nearest to you - or perhaps you are, but it is the slowest and/or most-heavily trafficked.

Last time I downloaded a large file from SF, I saw miserable speeds like you mentioned. I canceled the download, manually picked a different server, and then saw around 1.2 megabytes per second (with occasional jumps to 1.9 megabytes per second). It was on my friends 30mbit/second connection, so it was still less than optimum. But it was reasonably fast, nonetheless.

Best regards,
Driver

To answer your question, It's more likely that there is some sort of throttling going on. Companies can't have bandwidth taken up from one user and take away from others. ;) Bandwidth throttling ensures network integrity. And when it comes to hosting, you only get what you pay for. But Torrents are seeded by users and are a sure way to ensure your large file download will be verified. Kind of like a built in md5 check, plus the added speed. Just make sure you only download from encrypted connections... :ugeek:

+1 for torrents.
No need to run md5 checksum.
