Install 2.9

Install 2.9

Postby eipapp » Sat Nov 19, 2011 9:40 pm

I downloaded Ultimate Edition 2.9 then copied it to a DVD, however when I re-start my computer with the DVD in my CD drive and select "Install Ultimate Edition" it doesn't install but goes right to the live edition. I've never run into this problem before when attempting to install a Linux OS. How do I get Ultimate Edition 2.9 installed on my computer ?

Thanks much,
Bruce

Can't help thinking that it won't install because I'm currently running Ubuntu 11.1 on my computer and it needs Ubuntu 10.10 to install. Is that crazy ?

To my knowledge it should install no matter what else your running. While installing it should ask you if you want to install beside ytour current OS or etc....

Had the same issue, and the USB install worked perfectly. Used unetbootin to put the ISO onto an 8GB stick from PNY. Even though I came up with the "solve" myself, it's nice to see it validated here!

Oh...if you, (like me..), are using an ancient-antique-dinosaur-fossil-relic of a can, (Dell Dimension 2400), I use PloP in my floppy,(YES, I said FLOPPY) to get the machine to boot to the USB stick.

Hope it helps...

Glad to see the USB install worked for you. I have stopped using discs over 1 year ago. It just takes too long.
